Spring-Summer 2011 – The bourgeois image of this collection embodied the consumer friendly collection. It was very Yves Saint Laurent. A conservative white Mac opened the collection; this was just the beginning of this business opening. Black A line skirts teemed with lantern sleeve blouses prompted a sultry business wear, yet with a promiscuous cut out back, sex appeal was given to the outfit. This was true for the black jumpsuits too. Whilst marking the sophistication of the show with a cut to slim and long line fit, the plunging v-necks spiced up the outfit. Suits were primitive in the sense of their clean aesthetic, with only a contemporary shiny black trim and patch pocket, positioned at the top of a skirts slit, to interject any innovation. 1970’s primary blocking was also prevalent here. Thin black belts stood out as the key accessory, giving a waist to a jacket or a skirt. Softness then came by way of silk peasant dresses and deep ruffled cotton skirts. Frills on the sleeves, and ruffles across the hemline dominated this look. Predating this was the great use of fabric. Talent availed with fur skirts, silk tapered trousers and breezy chiffon dresses. It was a great collaboration of synthetics.
