Chanel Women Spring Summer 2016 –
Never one to shy away from creating a catwalk spectacle, Karl Lagerfeld transformed his runway into an airport departures lounge to showcase his SS16 collection for Chanel. His collection was one of coloured patterns and signature boucle knits – you could imagine the impossibly chic Chanel woman checking into first class wearing the coloured sunglasses and looking superior to everyone else.
The collection was vast, by far one of the largest of Paris Fashion Week, with over 90 different looks, ranging from sweet skirt and top combinations with coloured ruffles, to feminine tailored suit trousers and jackets. Lagerfeld favoured metallic silver gloves and signature quilted Chanel handbags, and, for his classic jacket enthusiasts, a new selection of these were sure to please. The mid calf skirt was again the length of choice – as we have seen everywhere for SS16 – while stacks of necklaces and bracelets made up of layers of pearls and charms kept the looks youthful. His shoe of choice was an amalgamation of styles – a clear plastic lace up platform bootie complete with peep toe, while make up was kept minimal, save for a blue block across the eyes.
