Hermès
Autumn-Winter 2013/14
A refined sense of traditional masculinity was presented at the Hermes show, a brand whose sense of tradition and beauty is still refulgent amongst contemporary designers today.
It didn’t kick things up or present a drastic new edge, which can arouse excitement, but for Hermes they stick to what they know so for winter, tailored suits that were relaxed by the wearing of high polo necks formed the majority of eveningwear.
The collection seemed to be primarily made up of statement pieces so whether it was an oversized cinched in leather coat or two toned yellow and grey jumper, they became pieces that burned into your brain whilst not overwhelming the rest of the outfit.
There were sport elements dotted throughout, mainly with the black multi-coloured laced up boots and thick stripe detailing on jumpers which would play well with any man on the move, and when you boil it all down, that’s what the collection was all about. A man on the move, never stopping, never slowing – just like Hermes.
