Missoni
Autumn-Winter 2013/14
The brand’s landmark year of 60 years producing famed knitwear has been dealt with a bitter after taste as the founder’s son, Vittorio Missoni’s plane disappeared on the 4th of January. Despite the pain and anguish, the Missoni collection continued on its path and delivered a collection based on the echoes and legends of the North American landscape.
In muted sand, greens and burgundies, the knit centred collection formulated double-breasted coats, jumpers and cardigans which were layered on top of each other whilst suiting featured Missoni’s signature zig-zag weave in slate hues which was tailored and slim.
The casual nature of the garments was heightened by the inclusion of straight leg denim jeans and quilted jackets with denim sleeves, a nice touch and connected to the deep theme of the outback.
Whilst tragedy surrounds the Missoni family, their collection mirrored calmness and muted tailoring that was not strict but obverse to the inspiration, which the collection truthfully honoured.
