Autumn-Winter 2013/14
Old Viv’ never misses a trick and her approach to next season carried a whisper of the Mad Hatter, an eccentric bloke, but who is layered with deep appreciation for deconstructed tailoring and of course, a climate revolution.
In what seemed to be a swatch heaven, Vivienne Westwood stuck to her guns and produced clothing centred around drop-crotch trousers, with florescent accents in print such as purple and blue herringbone, double-breasted morning suit blazers, oversized polo neck jumpers and large T-shirts which carried climate change slogans.
The models had their faces painted with an eyeglass outline covering one eye and top lip trick moustaches that reaffirmed the dandy element to the collection. A special item included a tote bag in red and blue zebra striped blazed with the slogan, “Climate Revolution”.
Indeed, Vivienne Westwood conjured up a whimsical collection yet her seriousness and marrying of fashion and politics together makes her and this collection an admirable fight for a better world.
