Costume National Women Spring Summer 2016

Like many seen this season, black and white with moments of red were the coloring of this collection. Rather than appearing dull, the inclusion of only a few colors adds a classic edge to the collection, letting one focus on the shapes and styles.

Deconstructed tuxedos were a common look, including a layered waistcoat and a sleeveless jacket. Combined with deep v-necklines and bare legs, this collection has a sultry nightwear feeling throughout. Short, flirty dresses intermingle with fitted trousers, skirts and jackets. Details range from the abundance of frills found on one cocktail dress to polka dots, raised floral pattern, ribbons to the occasional pleated pieces. Polka dots, stripes and diamond patterns appear on sheer fabrics near the end, along with a metallic palm frond print. A bright red suit with a high-collared sheer top interrupted the parade of black and white looks. A black strip along the hemline on a white dress and vice versa adds a sense of structure to a flowing skirt, as a white belt across a black dress draws the eye to a defined waist.

Black or white leather accessories are exclusive in this collection. Thick ankle straps with buckles on pointed toe and sandal heels are worn throughout, sometimes paired with simple but beautiful leather purses.
