When I learned Tom Ford was directing and producing a feature film starring Colin Firth I was surprised to say the least, but knowing his penchant for perfection and immaculate style, I was confident it would be beautiful if nothing else. It certainly did not disappoint. Rather than the fashion being important in this film, the importance lay on what the fashion world brought to the screen.

Ford focused on colour shifting and music to convey emotion and was successful in making the mundane tasks of George’s everyday life seem extraordinary. We fell in love with Charley, the exotic, bohemian best friend of George whose life revolves around makeup and cocktail dresses and despite the darkness of this story you somehow want to be part of this beautiful world. Tom Ford, is there anything you can’t do?
