Balmain

Balmain Women Autumn-Winter 2015 – The Autumn-Winter wardrobe is being thrown back in time as Olivier Rousteing takes it to the 80s in the coolest way possible, at Balmain.

Opulent, glamorous and feminine… This ready- to- wear collection brings a burst of beautiful sweet wrapper autumnal colours to the scene with flowing silhouettes mixed with a 70/80s vibe.  The show was a remix of the sexy and classy, the elegant and the sporty, the monochrome with the rich jewelled colour blocking touches.
It was a runway filled with pleated palazzo pants, glittering tiered showgirl fringed bodices, peekaboo lace and party dress ruffles. Structured jackets echoed the 80s with strong shoulders and came in a patchwork of shiny bright shades.
Show stopping silk gowns bought sensual movement and retained Rousteing’s aesthetic of tough-luxe detailing. Stripes, romantic floral, abstract patterns, plunging necklines, midriff cut-outs and fur accents enhanced the contemporary spin of the vintage looks. Wide belts cinched waists in and asymmetric earrings made a statement.
The army stomped down the catwalk clutching small purses and oversized bags taking strides in ankle strapped pointed heels. Make up was kept natural and hair was parted on the side.

The collection felt like a true flamboyant celebration of the powerful women, strong, confident, and striding and a powerful sense of herself without compromise the Balmain army reigns supreme.
