Mary Katrantzou
Mary Katrantzou Women Autumn-Winter 2015 – Never one to settle for ordinary and famed for turning the most humdrum of objects into something extraordinary, this evenings Mary Katrantzou presentation saw her models walking on 3D pink foam in a collection that embodied both modernity and futurism whilst eluding to the past.
Whilst at first Katrantzou’s designs appeared demure with felted grey colours and below the knee peplum hems, the presence of 3D foam adorned clutch bags indicated something bigger and bolder was coming. With following designs maintaining the peplum but increasing the presence of damask flowers, patterns slowly began to become bigger and bolder. Clashing the fabric of parka coats with alternatively patterned pockets, alongside dual prints the vibrancy of colour was also heightened with duffle coats appearing in unique tones of burgundy, plum and magenta.
Her runway was not the only 3D feature as alongside the incorporation of the foam on a number of her accessories, her technological theme inspired Katranzou’s use of 3D plastic paisley and ruffled embellishments. To finalise her runways looks models wore velvet wedged platforms whilst doll inspired eyelashes dominated the make-up.
