David Koma

David Koma Women Autumn-Winter 2015 – Strong, structured but always sexy, today saw David Koma tackling another ‘S’ with his Autumn-Winter collection providing a modern reinterpretation of the Sixties.

Confidently coloured in blues, oranges and blacks, Koma’s revival of the era’s statement pieces saw classic mini-skirts reinvented with leather peplum hems, whilst the decade’s iconic mini dresses were adopted with belted waists and small bell sleeves. Of course no Sixties outfit is complete without the shoes and the collection saw Koma debut his anticipated collaboration with up and coming Malone Souliers. Slight and sculptural, footwear reflected the designer’s signature aesthetic in the form of towering platforms and power heels.

Leather was fundamental to Koma’s collection, with the material being utilised to craft squared off pockets  and panels on a number of pieces. Cut outs and crocheting also made their appearances in intricate designs, plunging playsuits and high necked tops with circular slits. Sixties shifts featured in their traditionally bright oranges, whilst leather skirts and striped knitwear were more reserved in deep cobalt blues.

Closing his show with a line of short sequined shifts, the final pieces of the collection provided the real sparkle for the crowd – leaving them wanting to go out and disco.
