Gareth Pugh
Gareth Pugh Women Autumn-Winter 2015 – After seven years away from the London Catwalk, Gareth Pugh’s highly anticipated return to London Fashion Week proved the biggest news of AW2015. Returning to home soil in celebration of the 10th anniversary of his brand, Pugh delivered a military collection that was dark, dramatic and downright sinful.
Acknowledged worldwide for his outstanding showmanship, tonight’s show proved no different as Pugh kick started events with a theatrical short film. With the film’s protagonist cutting off her hair and painting onto herself the Saint George’s cross, Pugh’s scene quickly came to life with models storming the catwalk sporting boyish cropped hair and flag emblazoned faces. With the Victoria and Albert Museum providing the backdrop, the venue proved perfect for Pugh’s show which inspired strong feelings of nationalism through clever use of loud football chants against an all black colour scheme.
Further insinuating a mood of modern day warfare, Pugh’s womanly warriors paraded in long draping gowns, leather-crafted armour, military capes and Britannia-styled helmets. With a topless model waving a red flag to signal the end of the show, there’s no doubt that Gareth Pugh came to London Fashion Week and conquered.
