Alexander Wang
Alexander Wang Women Autumn-Winter 2015 – With music of Gesaffelstein’s ‘Pursuit’ and The Prodigy ‘The Day is My Enemy’ in the background, Alexander Wang’s autumn/winter 2015 collection hit an all time cool, when the androgynous models walking onto the runway looked like a new subculture rather than a clothing collection. With all an all black collection inspired by heavy metal bands, already you can imagine what the collection consisted of – Heavy silver jewelry detail, chunky chains on shoes, leather jackets and bold red and black tartan check.
“Coming off of the H&M collection with its sportiness, I wanted to go somewhere different,” explained the designer. “There was a new romanticism that I don’t usually play with – Victorian silhouettes, hourglass shapes, velvet, corsetry and chainmail made in a sensual way.”
Wang also showed a strong sense of femininity, with sheer fabrics and two looks that delved away from the dark, sensual black – two looks that consisted of white crochet jumpers teamed with washed out blue jeans.
Following Wang’s recent H&M collaboration, this collection is a quirky twist and idea of Wang’s talent and what is further to come into trend towards the end of this year.
