Clean lines and striking prints at Versace Pre-Fall 2015

Thigh-high stiletto boots, in either solid colors or patterns, were paired with patchwork leather smock tops and dresses, some worn with zip-neck sweaters.

“I love this look that is both simple and complex, with neat silhouettes that are full of luxurious Versace detail,” explained the designer.

The sharp black tailored pants were worn with strappy sandals, while the decorative houndstooth at the core of the collection appeared both small and blown up like a vector graphic into a color block theme for a series of dresses and tailored pieces. There was also a welcome shaggy-luxe touch with Mongolian fur, suede, mink and astrakhan pieces.

The houndstooth was also broken down into an abstract black and white animal print on the asymmetrical cocktail dresses which featured metal staple closures (also picked up on the jewelry), some decorated with Swarovski crystals.

With all that slicked back glamour, it was pleasing to see some deeply practical pieces for the Versace girl, from the reinvented black parka with its functional zips to the quilted leather bikers and coats and sporty knits.
